I still like my 2017 and I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I tried to keep it kind of the same so I could see the redraw progress. I can SEE improvement but I wish I could see more. Oh well. I’m not done yet! Thank you @helloaschefire for putting up with me for so long lol
It’s been a minute since I shared a screen of Valentina and Johan. I missed them so started playing them again. Johan, who belongs to the angel @helloaschefire , really is pulling double duty as bodyguard tonight. I had to go back a few levels to start another avenue of the story and forgot I wasn’t as big a bad-ass anymore.
Ashoken & Duncan – Beach Episode
Ashoken belongs to bestie @helloaschefire XOXO thanks for everything Birthday Week Girl! I’m not done yet and owe you a million OC doodles for putting up with my crazy ass. YOU are a True Royal 👑. Love you!!
Thanks for waiting! You know my schedule is nuts! here’s a lil fluff doodle for you!
But yes. Duncan dreams. A lot. It happens with the number of things he’s repressed or keeps under a tight lid. But
Nightmares
are a huge part of those. he’s not a thrasher or sleep talker and refuses to talk about them when he can remember them. If Ashoken is there, she will know as he will pull her to him and probably squeeze her too tightly or uncomfortably. If Ash minds, we may never know really lol.
Things he has repeating night thoughts all revolve around the Institute.
His mother is a gen 1 singing
Father killing an old caretaker synth in front of him to prove they “aren’t real”
Being Father
Ashoken letting other Synths kill him
Being the only thing at all in the Institute and not finding a way out.
Finds out he’s a synth because he keeps trying to kill himself but can’t.
@hoodieofthewaste thank you for asking about Johan. He’s the first Fallout 4 character I have to finish the game. He’s my only Fallout 4 character to “finish” the game.
Johan is my knight in shining armor. My paladin. My lawful good isn’t lawful stupid (it isn’t) character. He is a sole survivor. Honorably discharged from the Army after serving in the Army as a combat engineer who saw battle, he was ready for a relatively peaceful life with his wife Nora and son, Shaun, named after his grandfather.
So much for that. He woke up, cryo-sick with only the memory of that far away time. Confronted with the thawing body of his dead wife, he carried her out of the vault and into daylight. After finding Codsworth in what was left of his old housing development, he buried Nora and went on to Concord, still dazed and confused as to when he was and what had happened while he was out.
His combat muscles were still in shape, however, so he had little culture shock when needing to shoot enemies and liberate a small group of settlers led by a single Minutemen. Meeting Preston Garvey and taking on the Minutemen cause, gave Johan purpose and a reason to wake up every morning. But the Minutemen did nothing to soothe his aching soul or make up for the loss of his wife. He tried to find Solace in a relationship with Piper Wright, but both of them knew it was a mistake. He tried to find escape in chems with his friend John Hancock, but they just make him sloppy and hate couches for no damn reason. Then he met a pre-war woman named Valentina.
@charomiami , I had a knee-jerk answer for this but you said I needed to think about my answers. So I did. And you know, it’s far more complicated than is he analytical or is he emotional in his decisions. Hooking up with Piper right after cryo? That was an emotional decision. Turning over many of the Minutemen day to day functions to Preston (who should be leading the MM) and the organizational genius that is Simone was calculated. His attempts to bring all the Settlements together into the MM umbrella of leadership and protection, supplemented possibly by the BoS, is calculated. Collecting all the fancy soap in the Commonwealth to give to Valentina, that’s emotional. The love he gives Dog? The growing bond between him and Shaun? Emotional. Making sure the rank and file do their job, have what they need to do it. Analytical. Never giving a Gunner (with the exception of Mac) a break? Emotional.
He’s angry and that sets the tone for many of his decisions on patrol and in combat situations. He wants to keep his family safe and there are steps that need to be taken in the proper order in order to achieve the results he’d like to see for the Commonwealth, for his family, for Valentina. Those decisions reflect his upbringing as a boy who was taught to do the right thing no matter the cost. He’s constantly comparing himself to his father, to his grandfather, to his mother and grandmother too. As a result, he probably shows more emotion than his father, but still, he bears most of it in silence.
I’m rambling. I know. I’m not sure I even answered the question. He is analytical in his method, but emotional/analytical in the making. He’ll never sacrifice the one relying on him to save the many. There’s always a way. Because that’s what heroes do.
When @charomiami shakes her fist at you, you snap to it! Thank you for the ask, lovey!
33: Concept of home and family?
Ashoken will spout out the definition of home and family when/if asked this question. Home – “the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household.” Or “an institution for people needing professional care or supervision.” She will then look the questioner (probably Duncan) with a serious expression. A silent question that asks do you understand where this is going?
Family can be defined as “a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household” or “ all the descendants of a common ancestor.”
The Institute was their home. Their family. Until she began to question her role in that family. And he his. They left because the family could not be trusted and the home, no matter how comfortable and clean, was a prison.
She wants to trust. She wants to have a permanent place. But for now, those words mean something to flee from, not to run toward.
You never disappoint! And thank you. I hope it didn’t hurt your brain tooooo much */pets* I love it!
Sorcerer Jiali Colour Sketch
Since it’s May the 4th, I wanted to do a warm-up of one of my besties SW Characters. Sorcerer Jiali belongs to @helloaschefire who really lets me have too much power with her ocs. She has so many good ones, but of course, I drifted dark side.
Side Adventure
With a lot of talk about Gage and RedEye, I went back to Nuka, started digging and got to RedEye.
WTF wow ReadEye deserved better. I would have gone insane with that speaker. So headcanon time because my heartstrings got a lil tugged from all the Gage fans too.
Val and Johan were not the ones in our AU that cleared NukaWorld. (They really weren’t.) Val never heard him on the radio there so she would have liked the Story of Atlas the first time. But not the 9th… Val never met Gage.
I always head-canoned Gage lived somehow because I liked seeing peoples OCs with him. I assumed one of the freed merchant slaves maybe repaid an act of kindness gage showed or something and helped him I don’t know. Whatever. he’s alive.
RedEye does RedEye stuff still. Honestly had Val found him locked in that craptastic place, she’d fucking let him out of that OMFG insane. But RedEye will ALWAYS be with Brian to me doing their thing, having their adventures… NukaWorld or Not.
Cupid likes RedEye and Travis
PS I forgot to count how many times RedEye said Shutup.
BETHY RUDE. What a shitty “studio”… though thanks for the tickets and Love Recipe!
hahah @helloaschefire I promise no paddleball injuries this time and Jo is happy about that!
